Hjorths fabrik p Bornholm blev grundlagt i 1859 og eksisterer stadig, drevet af samme familie. Busten er tegnet i 1890'erne af Rasmus Bgebjerg der var tilknyttet fabrikken i en rrkke i slutningen af 1800 tallet. Rasmus Bgebjerg har bl. a. lavet en portrtbuste af Herman Bang i 1882 og en statue af N. F. S. Grundtvig i 1903.
