The factory stamps appeared when the shell was stripped to bare metal and were very faintly stamped as NS66 (Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke) size 66cm; the lot number being 6124. When acquired the shell was in a green repaint externally with a sawdust like texture; when stripped the bare surface was quite lumpy with pitting.
