Magpie lens flare The Colonial Motel at NewA magpie surveys the overgrown grounds of Newington Armament Depot and Nature Reserve from a stretch of weathered concrete, unhurried and unbothered. The depot ran for 102 years as the Royal Australian Navy's primary armament storage and distribution facility on the Parramatta River, handling everything from gunpowder to torpedoes. These days the magpies have the run of it. Part of the Newington Armory series.
