The spoon was made in the 1790s. The handle of the spoon is beautifully engraved with bright cut designs. There is a cartouche at the tip of the handle that is monogrammed with the initials JEH. The back of the spoon has a rest, which is unusual to see on such an early American spoon. There is no maker's mark on this spoon, what you are seeing in the photo of the reverse is
