The jug has a grinning, bearded face opposite the handle, surrounded by colorful juggling balls in pink, red, green, and yellow. I have seen this character on jugs called a jester, a juggler, or even a satyr, you be the judge of what he's up to. The underside of the jug has two old paper labels, one reading Staff 1790 likely used by an antique shop.
