P #28, Pyrography on American Bison Skull, titled “Cheii”. sale Hollow Form Vessel from PinyonPyrography on American Bison Skull, this piece is titled Cheii (pronounced Chay) which is the Navajo word for Grandfather but also holds significant cultural, spiritual, and protective symbolism particularly associated with the horned lizard or toad. This bison was an extremely old bull as can be determined by the seams on the skull being completely closed up. His age and the scale work and horns had me in mind of the horned lizards of the 4 corners
