This is a Meiji period piece, dating to circa 1900. The box is beautifully decorated with very colorful and detailed floral designs, including chrysanthemums and peonies. Around the sides of the box is a gold spiral design and five petal daisy type flowers. Even the underside is decorated, with pretty cloisonne wirework and white enamel. The box has a hinged lid with a brace at one corner for stability.
