Fading student artwork still covers the walls. Asahi Elementary operated for just eight years, from 1975 to 1983, before depopulation emptied the building. The school was later converted to group lodging by Yubari Kanko Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. and abandoned when the company went bankrupt in 2007. Part of the Family School
