Currants, both red and black are there at the outset, together with allspice, dark chocolate and a spiced perfume. The medium weight palate is framed by the fine, chalky tannins, which linger and define. It opens to black olive, blackcurrant and black strap molasses, with the powdery tannins and natural acidity drawing the wine to a persistent finish.
