It can be cast, carved, and layered to create a textural surface. The melting point (175F, 79C) is higher than that of encaustic (approximately 162F, 72C). The difference in temperature allows one to paint and fuse the encaustic over a shape without immediately blunting sculptural details. Impasto is available in 333 ml cakes.
