These are made of dense 8 9 ounce veg tanned leather (flesh side up), which we find ideal for stropping and charging with compound. They come with velcro sewn to the underside for quick attachment removable from the walnut base. They have a 1 4 inch hole for hanging up on peg hooks, nails, etc. We generally recommend the rough side up for stropping. It works faster and takes compound better.
