I often darken the inside of the settings before securing the stones to make them a bit less transparent so you don't get lots of reflection through the stone from the silver which helps bring out their natural blue color

The copper is lightly sealed to help prevent tarnish. I coated the inside of these rings with silver solder. I set tiny Lake Superior agates in these (about 6 mm stones) that we found.
