In 1806 James Gosling was sent out to sea by his father with a hold full of Wines and Spirits headed towards Virginia. After the charter on the ship ran out James had to settle on Bermuda, where he opened a Wine and Spirits shop. Upon his return to England in 1824 he set up a shop with his brother Ambrose, a shop the Goslings maintain to this day. Their first Rum was produced decades later, in 1863, called the Black Seal a Rum that
