Ballard Locks City Park Having photographed the Independence Day

Having photographed the Independence Day show last year I knew the location I wanted to shoot from this year

With my camera I captured some of the scene but then started some abstract pictures with the lights along the path and to the grand finale

I headed to Sloans Lake for some afternoon light on a November afternoon

The flaking of the paint and the various colors is what grabbed my attention to this specific hood

There are many things you cannot control when photographing out of an airplane window

Ballard Locks City Park Having photographed the Independence DayHiram M. Chittenden Locks, or Ballard Locks in Seattle carry more boat traffic than other locks in the United States. On the morning I visited they had just started on a project on the large locks and thus they were fully drained. This allowed me to see a different view of the locks than normal with the various growth along the sides and gates fully visible.
