Anthony Shortte Surf Hints of vibrant colour punctuateAustralian blues drummer Anthony Shortte has been the subject of my paintings before. This most recent one is based on a live performance at the Echuca Winter Blues Festival in 2019 where he was playing in the band Opelousas. Here, I've tried to capture the sense of movement and his immersion in the music. His hair provides wonderful opportunities for detailed, fine brushwork and working with flowing line. Complementary colours of red and green help
