The wood has beautiful graining and the finish is in good condition. The two tea compartments are hinged, and there is a crystal bowl in the center that was usually used for sugar. The only flaw in this beautiful caddy is a broken part of the sugar bowl pedestal. It cannot be seen unless the bowl is removed from the caddy. The keyhole has a mother of pearl
